Kawade Shibatarō served as the workshop chief at the Andō Cloisonné Company, playing a pivotal role alongside Andō Jūbei in leading cloisonné production in Nagoya.
Owing to the demands of his position as workshop chief, the time he could devote to his own creations was limited, and his surviving works are not numerous. Nevertheless, each one is recognized as a masterpiece of remarkable finish.
His abilities make him fully worthy of being named alongside the great cloisonné masters representing the Meiji period.

Kawade Shibatarō was an artist endowed with a sensibility connecting to contemporary art, executing techniques such as yūsen (wired), musen (wireless), and moriage (raised) with absolute precision in his creations.
Combining beauty with delicacy, his works possess a charm that transcends conventional cloisonné frameworks. Though surviving pieces are limited, all are revered as masterworks of the highest order, holding ever-growing rarity value and artistic significance.
