Hattori Tadasaburō was a cloisonné artist active during the Meiji period who, though entering the field relatively late, swiftly distinguished himself. After exhibiting at the Third National Industrial Exposition in 1890 (Meiji 23), his works earned high acclaim and continued to be active at exhibitions both at home and abroad.
He is also known for having received commissions from the Imperial Household, a testament to the deep trust placed in his refined technique and dignified artistry.

Hattori Tadasaburō was an artist who masterfully employed techniques such as moriage (raised cloisonné), musen (wireless), and shōtai (plique-à-jour), unfolding a remarkable range of expression. From decorative works to refined commission pieces, his craftsmanship spanned a wide spectrum.
The works he produced under Imperial commission are distinguished in both design and execution, and continue to be celebrated as masterworks to this day.
