A masterwork by the eminent artist Namikawa Yasuyuki. Against a yellow-green ground, Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Pavilion) and its surrounding landscape are depicted. Autumn foliage and waterside scenery are beautifully rendered through delicate gradations of color. This work dates from Namikawa's late period, and a companion piece by the same maker — bearing a different composition — is preserved in the Namikawa Yasuyuki Memorial Hall in Kyoto.
