A masterwork by Namikawa Yasuyuki, Artist to the Imperial Household (Teishitsu Gigei-in). Against a jet-black ground of the celebrated glaze known as kokushoku tōmei-yū (translucent black glaze), plum blossoms and a bird are rendered entirely in gold wire — an exquisitely refined and beautifully elegant work.
