A masterwork by the eminent artist Namikawa Sōsuke. The bird is rendered in a rich palette of colors, with the musen (wireless) cloisonné technique brilliantly capturing even the delicate softness of its plumage. The motif of a bird against the moon is among the most beloved subjects in Namikawa Sōsuke's oeuvre.
Although the musen cloisonné technique was invented by Namikawa Sōsuke and subsequently adopted by many other cloisonné artists, this piece exemplifies his unmatched mastery of the wireless method — a beauty that no other artist has been able to replicate.
