A cloisonné box in the Owari tradition. Against a background of the deep aubergine-indigo (nasu-kon) hue characteristic of Owari cloisonné, a composition of birds and blossoms is depicted.
Although the piece bears no signature, its technical mastery and stylistic hallmarks strongly suggest attribution to Hayashi Kodenji. All the cloisonné wires are of pure gold, making this an extremely rare, sumptuous, and exquisitely beautiful work.
